It’s a February Moonlit Rocky Mountain Night

A crisp clear, star filled, moonglow, 10 above zero night. Feels warm after all of the zero and below temperatures of December and January. It may get up to 40 degrees tomorrow and I’ll be able to roam about through the snow on the side of our mountain in my shirtsleeves. Going to Crystal Springs for water should be a pleasure. I love the wide horizons when we break out of the pines and leafless aspens, and see the lofty peaks. They are fully blanketed now, arctic  white, and the Chief appears to be breathing out a warm air mist most mornings when he is visible. When it is sharply clear after a winter storm, it is spectacular to see him stretched out full length from Pagoda at his head to Estes Cone appearing as his feet and toes, lying in repose, staring up at heavenly mysteries. His hands, folded across his belly, are knuckled by Meeker and Long’s Peak, at least that is the way it seems to me, but there are so many ways of seeing from different angles and with constantly changing light and shadows. Every moment is a marvel! I believe it is that which fills his conciousness, as well as mine. Just being, is such a marvel! Whatever it is, whenever and whereever we percieve it, if it inspires us and lifts us up, it is our greatest resource.
